Chemical-Resistant Pump Sprayers for HVAC Coil Cleaning | Poly STW-1, STW-2, STW-3
Your Coil Cleaner Is Only as Good as the Equipment Putting It on the Coil.
You bought the right chemistry. You mixed it to the ratio on the label. But the sprayer you loaded it into has rubber seals that were never designed for concentrated alkaline or acid coil cleaners. Two or three jobs in, the seals swell, the pump sticks, the wand drips, and you have caustic chemistry leaking onto your hands, the customer’s equipment, or their roof.
Vapco Spray Towers are built specifically to handle the chemicals HVAC contractors actually use — every day, all season.
Every seal and gasket in an STW sprayer is genuine Viton (fluoroelastomer) — the same material specified for chemical transfer pumps and fuel injection systems. The hoses are chemical-resistant. The shut-offs are fitted with Viton gaskets right at the point of control. This is not a garden sprayer with a different label. It is application equipment engineered alongside the coil cleaners it delivers.
Manufacturer’s Tech Note: A pump-up sprayer gives you exact control over your dilution ratio — critical for products like Foaminator, where the delayed-foam mechanism depends on precise concentration and low-turbulence application. When mixing, always add water to the tank first, then pour concentrate on top. This prevents splashback with undiluted chemical and avoids foaming inside the tank. Rinse the tank, hose, and wand with clean water at the end of every work day to maximize seal life.
Why Viton — and Why It Matters for Your Seals
This is not marketing language. It is materials science.
| SEAL MATERIAL | CHEMICAL RESISTANCE | FIELD LIFESPAN |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Rubber | Swells and softens on contact with concentrated alkaline or acid cleaners. | 1-3 uses before failure. |
| EPDM | Handles mild chemicals. Degrades under concentrated caustics and aromatic solvents. | Weeks to a few months depending on chemistry and frequency. |
| Viton (FKM) | Resists concentrated acids, caustics, aromatic and aliphatic solvents, and petroleum products. | Full cooling season or longer with daily rinsing after use. |
Feature / Benefit Breakdown
| KEY FEATURE | TRADE BENEFIT |
|---|---|
| Genuine Viton Seals & Gaskets | Season-Long Durability: Handles the full range of HVAC coil cleaning chemistries without swelling, softening, or leaking. |
| Translucent Poly Tank with Funnel Top | Visible Fill Level & Clean Pouring: See how much solution is left without opening the tank. Funnel top reduces splashing when adding concentrate. |
| 18″ Poly Extension Rod + Fan Tip Nozzle | Even Coverage, Safe Distance: Fan pattern distributes chemical evenly across the coil face. Extension rod keeps your hands out of the spray zone. |
| 42 ” Chemical-Resistant Hose | Flexible Reach: Position the tank on the ground and work the coil at height without strain. |
| Integrated Safety Lock | Transport Protection: Prevents accidental discharge in the van or on the roof. |
| Check Valve | Pump Protection: Prevents chemical backflow into the pump mechanism. |
| Poly Shut-Off with Viton Gaskets | Drip-Free Control: Chemical-resistant shut-off at the point of control. |
| Nitrile Barrel Gaskets | Pressure Seal: Maintains consistent tank pressure throughout the application. |
Which Size Do You Need?
All three poly models share the same construction, seals, and hardware. The only difference is tank capacity.
| MODEL | CAPACITY | BEST FOR |
|---|---|---|
| STW-1 | 1 Gallon | Spot Work & Small Residential: Light enough to carry one-handed. Good truck-stock option for quick single-unit jobs. |
| STW-2 | 2 Gallon | Residential PM Routes: The most popular size. Enough capacity for multiple units without excessive weight. |
| STW-3 | 3 Gallon | All-Day Runs & Light Commercial: Fewer stops to re-mix on busy routes. Preferred for contractors cleaning 10+ units in a day. |
Need More Durability? Consider Brass.
For contractors running acid cleaners daily or doing heavy commercial work, the STW-2B and STW-3B brass models offer upgraded wand and shut-off assemblies.

Why Standard Sprayers Fail — and What Happens When They Do
| THE PROBLEM (Standard Sprayers) | THE SPRAY TOWER SOLUTION |
|---|---|
| “The Seal Failure” Rubber and EPDM seals swell after 1-3 uses with concentrated coil cleaners. The sprayer leaks caustic chemical onto the technician, customer equipment, or roofing. |
“Viton Throughout” Every seal and gasket is genuine Viton. Handles concentrated acids, caustics, and solvents without degradation. |
| “The Surprise Discharge” No safety lock. Pressurized sprayer releases chemical during transport or when bumped. |
“Integrated Safety Lock” Prevents accidental discharge. Stays locked until you are ready. |
| “The Backflow” Chemical flows back into the pump during use, corroding internal components and shortening sprayer life. |
“Check Valve Protection” One-way check valve keeps chemical out of the pump mechanism. |
